How a Random Number Generator works to return casino game results

Random number generator computer program is something that was originally created for use in video poker games. It has a list of all the possible results in a deck of cards and then rotates through that list thousands of times a second and when a request for a game result is made it randomly chooses one of those possible results from the list and that is how you get your video poker hand. If an ace has been dealt then the remaining possible results would be less one ace of a full deck. The game results are expected to be completely random in their presentation and to mimic game odds of any Las Vegas or Atlantic City casino. No matter what the game, the wagered bet will have a result to completely mimic those of the real thing.

RNG (random number generator) programs work by having every single possible result that could happen in that wager, placed on a list which the RNG then rotates through at thousands of times a second and when you hit the button that says "roll the dice" or "spin the roulette wheel" or "spin the slots", that rotating list stops and whatever result is in the selection spot, is then seen on the player's PC screen.

Another way of explaining it is if we had a slot game which gave a jackpot one time out of every ten, a free spin three times out of ten and returned a losing gamble the remaining six times out of ten. If we put each of those possible results on a casino chip and put all ten chips into a hat and then had someone blindly choose a casino chip from the hat ... we'd be manually doing exactly what a random number generator does only it handles much larger numbers such as one chip out of a thousand or more.

What is important to recognize from understanding how a RNG works is that the days of a slot machine being due are long gone. Every single time a new wager is made the game results are all returned into the virtual hat and therefore the odds of the game ever being ready to payoff are just not something that exists any more. Every single time you try to win that jackpot in the one out of ten chips ... you will have to choose the right chip from ten possibilities, never nine, never eleven.

There is never a chance for you to have a "rich" or "poor" shoe in blackjack because every time you make a new bet, the shoe will have been once again shuffled and every card returned before you are dealt the next round. This is actually an edge to any blackjack player except the card counter because it ensures all the money cards are still in the shoe rather than risking the chance of entering a game mid-shoe and it having already spent most of the player-friendly cards, leaving you to suffer through several unpleasant hands, if not many more.

Keep in mind that random number generators work on odds based on millions of wagers over long periods of time which means that you are not guaranteed that there will be a jackpot to happen one time out of every ten but rather that a jackpot will happen...
